Home House In Croyde

Image

Most of the year we run our home as a bed and breakfast, however for the six weeks of the summer holidays, we rent the whole house out which gives other families and friends an opportunity to have a holiday in our home and enjoy what Croyde has to offer, this then gives us the opportunity to spend some quality family time with our boys.

Here’s what some of our guests said about their stay in Home House last year….

Well what can we say – all The Fishers have returned home with post holiday blues!!
We have loved the area – weather was much better than we had anticipated, so much so we were on the beach every day – including parents of 82 and 88 respectively…
Your home is delightful and your attention to detail fabulous – we all immediately fell in love with the house and felt very much at home and I have certainly taken away a few decorating ideas!! Thank you so much for the very welcome cream tea on our arrival a lovely touch and much enjoyed.
The courtyard area was put to full use and we had a BBQ to celebrate our daughters birthday on the Tuesday.
I think I can safely say that we will be making a return visit next year – so we will be in touch again regarding dates, trouble is other members of the family feel they have
missed out because of the rave reviews so may need your help in accommodating them somewhere!!

Thank you again for everything – superb!

We really loved the house, it was even nicer than we had hoped. I loved the courtyard and spent quite a lot of time there with my book. We’ve all been really busy with work and exams (I got my OU degree offer this morning at your house, it brought me luck – FIrst Class!) so having a lovely home from home was just the ticket.  We all loved the way you modernised the house yet kept that character and sense of history that is often wiped out in renovations…well done!

The scones were delicious and a very thoughtful touch, thank you.  We all had a lovely time at the cottage. It felt very homely, secure and had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. I will recommend the cottage to others and would hope that we may be able to return in the future.

Love… grey, pink and gold

When we first decorated our bedroom, I went for the simple look of sanded floor boards, white walls etc.

Living in a home in which including the hound, is dominated by boys, I’ve decided to add a little pink. We’re currently in the process of redecorating and should have it finished in a few weeks time hopefully, so I’ll update you in full how it’s turned out then.

Here are some of my inspiration ideas and you can see more of them on my Pinterest bedroom board

One day I will have a workroom like…

During the February Photo a Day Challenge, I had to show a shot of where I work, which got me thinking that I really could do with my own dedicated workspace, where I don’t have to pack everything away every day, somewhere I can go and just get on with what I’m doing, without interruption….

Until the times comes for me to find a good size room or shed even where I can set up my dream workroom, I will have to just manage with this….

Downend revisited…

I’ve just finished some more blinds for this lovely home in Downend, Croyde.

This time we used a beautiful fabric from Voyage Decoration, using the Lorient Contemporary Range, in the Cornelia Valance Lemon colour way, whilst this is described as lemon, I would say it is lemony lime! I love it so much I may just have to use it in my own home!

The Chapel at Pickwell Manor

The Chapel at Pickwell Manor, their newly finished apartment, has recently been totally restored.

Susie wanted to go with a ‘Camper Van’ style and this is where my suggestion of a Welsh Blanket Headboard came in, the fabric is 100% wool in St David’s Cross, woven in Wales, from Melin Tregwynt a lovely company to deal with.

The grey linen for the curtains was from Ada & Ina, another great company to deal with, making sure I had the fabric in time, despite the slow Christmas post!

We finished this project just before Christmas Eve, here are a few of the final images and Susie and I are rather pleased with the results!

Big thanks to Sarah Lambert who helped me with the photography!

I’ve a headboard project for one of my clients, she wants to go with a ‘vintage camper van’ style, so with this in mind and me being a bit partial to a Welsh Blanket, I’ve found some inspiration..Welsh Blanket, Headboard

Downend, Croyde

Over the summer I had to down tools, due to our B&B taking over, I’m now back to it and here is some of my recent work in a lovely home at Downend, Croyde.

The fabric is from Casadeco in Tango Lambada Stripe, mainly neutral tones with a duck egg blue stripe.

Precious memories

As my boys grow older, they no longer ask me to sing to them when tucking them into bed, which has made me a little sad, so to remind myself & them of this precious moment we used to share, I’ve found these images & I’m planning to do something similar on my staircase wall. Can you guess what the song was?
